This year Teratec Forum will feature, besides the regular exhibition/conference on 31 May/1st June, a series of online thematic morning sessions. They will take place in April, September and November 2023 and will provide a comprehensive overview of the subject matter, with a debriefing on current knowledge, industry feedback, and a review of the major research areas in the sector and future prospects.
The 20 April morning session is dedicated to Energy, and NEASQC has been invited to present one of our use cases dedicated to this sector. Joseph Mikael from EDF will present the NEASQC use case Hard optimisation problems for smart-charging of electric vehicles.
We present a case study of quantum optimization for smart-charging of electric vehicles. Tailored implementations of the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) have been developed for this problem, and tested numerically with classical resources either by emulation of Pasqal’s Rydberg atom based quantum device or using Atos Quantum Learning Machine. In some cases, quantum algorithms exhibit the same approximation ratios than conventional approximation algorithms, or improve them.
